Congress venue

ICBEN 2017 takes place on the premises of ETH Zurich (the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, abbreviated "ETH" or "ETHZ"). ETH Zurich is a public engineering, science, technology, mathematics and management university and is consistently ranked among the best universities in Europe. It currently has about 20'000 students from over 100 countries and is the workplace for more than 9000 staff members of which roughly 500 are full professors. ETH Zurich's main building from 1864, constructed by architect Gottfried Semper, is located in the city center and overlooks the picturesque old town.

ICBEN 2017 takes place on two floors of the recently renovated NO ("Naturwissenschaften Ost") building, part of the lively "Zentrum" campus of ETH Zurich. Hotels and restaurants are plentiful in the vicinity and Zurich's main railway station is easily reachable from the venue by foot in 10-15 minutes (see map below).

The light-flooded atrium (pictured above) of the NO building, which in one corner hosts a very nice geological exhibition ("focusTerra"), will be the central hub and meeting point for all congress attendees and will also be the place of the poster session. Coffee breaks and lunch buffets will be served in the atrium as well. A seminar room for quiet working and the conference office are on the same level. The plenary and parallel sessions take place in three lecture theaters which are one floor below.
