Résumé (Abstract) |
Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a serious clinical and a global health problem in adolescents with an estimated worldwide prevalence rate of 17% within the population of adolescents. Research of the past decade has shown that there are treatment approaches that effectively reduce self-harm among adolescents. The “Cutting Down” Programme (CDP) is a time- and cost-effective treatment in form of a manualized cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, which specifically focuses on self-harming behavior and has already been shown to be efficacious. Nevertheless there are still some adolescents not responding to treatment showing continued NSSI or even an exacerbation. One shortage of the conventional CDP is the lack of a systematic integration of family components into the treatment. The present study focuses on the investigation of a potential improvement of the CDP by adding an intensive parent module that has been specifically designed with a focus on reducing their adolescent’s engagement in NSSI. Therefore we developed a manualized cognitive behavioral parent therapy intervention closely related to the CDP. In this contribution we present the successful pilotphase for the upcoming randomized-controlled trial. We plan to implement the manualized cognitive behavioral parent therapy intervention in the “Ambulatorium für Risikoverhalten und Selbstschädigung” (AtR!Sk) and investigate whether it shows any benefit in family functioning and reducing NSSI. |
