| Abstract |
Aims: Childhood aggression is a leading cause of referrals to psychological services, but not all children benefit from conventional interventions. Therapeutic homework, essential for transferring and reinforcing the application of skills learned between therapy sessions, frequently suffers from low adherence. The use of mobile apps in child and adolescent psychotherapy represents a novel approach that may enhance engagement and improve the transfer of learned skills to daily life. Methods: This study evaluated therapeutic homework adherence and treatment outcomes in a social skills training (SST) for children with oppositional defiant disorder or conduct disorder, comparing a mobile app to traditional paper-based homework. In a randomized controlled trial, 66 children (aged 6-12) were assigned to either the experimental group (EG, n=33) using the mobile app or a control group (CG, n=33) using paper-and-pencil, with both groups receiving the same SST.
