Introduction] The medical needs related to developmental disorders, eating disorders and the child and youth suicide suicides require further improvement of medical care. In addition, medical treatment needs to be viewed from a multifaceted perspective, including the families, schools and communities surrounding the child, and cooperation between different professions is required. On the other hand, there are problems such as long waiting lists for initial consultations, and there is an urgent need to train and deploy not only physicians in charge of medical treatment and support, but also support staff from many different professions. Objectives. To clarify, through a questionnaire survey, the basic knowledge and skills required to promote the development and use of multidisciplinary personnel involved in child and adolescent psychiatric treatment and care, the methods of acquiring such knowledge and skills, and the actual conditions of multidisciplinary collaboration. Methods An online questionnaire survey was conducted via the Internet from 2021 to 2023, targeting a total of 1,240 people, including nurses, psychologists, mental health workers, and physicians who participated in the adolescent mental health training programme, which was implemented at this hospital. Results. Responses were received from 428 (34.5%) respondents. 92 (21.5%) respondents were psychologists, followed by 88 (20.6%) physicians, 70 nurses and 69 allied health professionals. In terms of the type of training that should be provided at the time of initial appointment, 'improved understanding through case studies in a multidisciplinary setting' was most needed, followed by 'basic knowledge on demand'.The most common basic knowledge to be acquired was ‘disease-specific systematic lectures’, ‘family therapy’ and ‘child psychotherapy’, ‘self-harm/suicide’, ‘truancy/withdrawal’ and ‘child abuse’ . Discussion. In order to promote the utilisation of and cooperation between multiple professions in child and adolescent psychiatry, there should be opportunities to acquire knowledge that is commonly required by multiple professions, such as disease-specific systematic lectures, psychotherapy, family therapy, self-harm, suicide, truancy, withdrawal, and child abuse, and opportunities to improve understanding through case studies in multiple professions. such as case study conferences and stakeholder meetings. |
