Abstract Aim:
The childhood dysregulation profile (DP) is characterised by difficulties in self-regulating emotions, behaviour and cognitions, which is associated with long-lasting adverse negative outcomes. Although more is known on the outcomes of DP, a systematic evaluation of the predictors of childhood DP is lacking. Thus, the aim of this study is to conduct a systematic review to identify early child and parent related factors that predict the course and different trajectories of DP in childhood.

Methods:
The protocol for the review was pre-registered. PubMed, PsychINFO, Medline and Web of Science were searched up to October 2024. The inclusion criteria were as follows: Prospective longitudinal studies of children from the community population measuring childhood DP up to 10 years. The exclusion criteria were as follows: studies including participants with a primary clinical diagnosis such as anxiety, and autism spectrum disorders. The abstract and full-text search stages were completed by the two authors independently. Eligible studies were reviewed to extract information on the study details such as the geographical location, sample size, age of assessment of DP, included predictors, and the main findings.

Results and Conclusions:
PubMed yielded 76 articles, PsychINFO yielded 72 articles, Medline yielded 100 articles and Web of Science yielded 86 articles. After removing the duplicates, the final literature search included 130 articles. In the abstract screening stage, 69 articles were excluded. The findings of the included studies will be evaluated to identify the factor with the highest predictive value.
