User participation is embodied in Norwegian legislation in several areas, such as health and social welfare. Norwegian legislation on education, health and social services includes the right of users of services to participate on an individual level as well as on a system level. This means the right to participate both in relation to your own personal situation, to have influence on your current situation as well as plans for your future, to be able to feel in control, to have the necessary information that concerns yourself. Furthermore, a second aspect of user participation is for the service users to be able to have influence on a system level: To make sure the experience and knowledge of service-users is asked for and integrated in the overall picture when we evaluate and plan for development of services.
Voksne for Barn has long experience of cooperating with service providers and young service-users on how to include children and young people when evaluating and developing services in the field of mental health and social well-fare services.
The aim of the workshop is to
- introduce the participants to methods for participation for young service users, based on experience from Voksne for Barne.
- Explore some of the methods for participation from children and youth
